The company "S.M.R. Consultants" signed a contract with the General Secretariat of Public Affairs of Investments and NSRP of the Ministry of Development and Investments for the implementation research of the financial needs of the very small, small, medium and mid-cap companies. The purpose of the research was its formation of a national financing strategy towards these enterprises for the period up to 2027. It is worth noting that the implementation of the new NSRF Programs started with intensive rates at the beginning of 2022 and therefore it was necessary to carry out the ex ante evaluation, prior to the notification of the financing measure business risk. The main objective of this study was to analyze the demand for funding of businesses, with an emphasis on the areas where there is an inability to cover the existing funding channels. The research was carried out through the creation of a structured questionnaire which distributed to small and medium-sized enterprises throughout Greece via online invitations. Some of the main conclusions are as follows:  The main factor affecting the growth of small and medium enterprises businesses in Greece is excessive taxation  During the period of the COVID-19 pandemic there was an increase of approx 50% of the needs for technological development, while one in five SMEs sought funding in order to survive  72% of responding enterprises stated that they intend to search funding within the next five years with the main objectives being the expansion in new markets,  the strengthening  of their potential and their presence in existing markets. This particular study is of signficant importance considering the difficulties that SMEs faced in our country (which are also approximately 99% of Greek enterprises) both during the economic period crisis as well as during the last 2.5 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
